Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures review

I really like Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures. Like, I really like it. Not the game, but the cartoon show. It's bright, colorful, lighthearted, funny, and immensely creative. And considering that the show is based on a game series, it's pretty obvious that a game was going to be made eventually.

Story - 4/10: The story plays out like an extended episode of the show. No big problems, no big reveals that you'd expect a game version of a show to have, and, most surprisingly, not even the voice cast of the show, making some of the best characters, like Clyde and Emperor Betrayus, sound off and out of character.

Crash Team Racing review

I'm back! This time we're doing another themed month, this time with 5 Crash Bandicoot games! We'll start with the last game made by Naughty Dog, Crash's original developers. Yes, it is a racing game, but it's considered on of the best racing games out there, and it probably is.

Story-6/10: Yes, a kart racing game with a story. Granted it isn't exactly the most amazing story, but having a story at all is a step up from most racing games. It's also suitably weird for a game about bandicoots racing as well.

One day in the Australian archipelago that Crash and his enemies live on, all of them get together for a racing competition, but are interrupted by a message from an alien who goes by the name Nitros Oxide. He tells the racers that he will turn the planet Earth into a parking lot if they don't play his game, Survival of the Fastest.

Shrek Swamp Kart Speedway review

It's hard to believe now, but Shrek was a big deal at one point. It had very good CGI animation, it mocked the cliches of fairy tale stories, and it managed to tell a good story with a genuine moral at the end. It also made a lot of money. This, of course, resulted in over 20 Shrek based video games being made, most of them ranging from decent to truly awful. Of course, Shrek also managed to get multiple kart racing games, and one of them is an amazingly bad game. It's the one over there by the way.

Story-N/A: There is no story. A bunch of characters from the first Shrek movie  drive around in cars. I think there might be something about a dragon's treasure, but that's never actually brought up in the game itself, just promotional material. I can't even believe this game had promotional material.

Digimon Racing review

In a way, I've always sort of liked Digimon better than Pokemon. While there is no denying that Pokemon has had some great games, Digimon has had some great games too, but Digimon has always had a step up on Pokemon in the TV department. Most of the income of the series has come from the cartoon and it's tie ins. Honestly, it's not a big surprise that a racing game was made. it's honestly just kind of weird.

Story-N/A: Again, no story to speak of. A bunch of Digimon characters decided to race and there are 3 assholes who want to ruin it for them. It's as simple as that.

Pac-Man World Rally review

I think everyone knows who Pac-Man is. Run around maze, eat pellets, dodge ghosts, everyone knows it and everyone loves it. But did you know there were three games released on the PS1 and PS2 that turned that into a 3D platformer? It's true! They were all very good games and a lot of people played them (Except for the third one, nobody played that.) and they were successful enough to get a kart racing game based on them. This is what Pac-Man World Rally is.

Story-N/A: Like most racing games, there isn't a story. Unlike the last two, I can't talk about interesting development, or the character selection. I could talk about the new TV show that's airing, but that's a whole other article right there.

Konami Krazy Racers review

Konami is a company that prides itself on being weird and Japanese. Ever since they began they've been one of the most Japanese companies out there, and even when their games cover European mythology and American wars, they still wind up being weird and Japanese. Konami Krazy Racrs is the result of 20 years of weirdness being wrapped up into a nice kart racing package.

Story-1/10: I have to give this one point at least, since there is at leas an excuse for why Konami KCharacters are racing around in go-karts.  Basically, the mysterious Konami Man sends an e-mail to 12 different Konami characters, challenging them to a Grand Prix to win trophies and fame, I never said it was a good excuse. Now, I think it's time we talk about our racers, and oh boy, what a strange group they are.

First is Mystical Ninja Goemon, who is the most Japanese character. He has an extending pipe he uses for attacks, and he also drives a giant robot sometimes. Following me so far? Second up is Pastel, a character from the series TwinBee. She never actually appears in the games, but drives the second player spaceship.

Banjo Pilot review

Whoa wait what? I have a blog? And I do reviews on it? Well hot damn better get to doing that then! To celebrate this return I've decided to spend the entire month of February reviewing GameBoy Advance racing games, starting off with probably the most storied of the bunch.

Story-N/A: Much like Sonic and Allstars Racing Transformed (And most racing games in general), Banjo Pilot doesn't have a story. What it does have is a STORIED backstory (heh heh) relating to business deals and trade offs.

It all started back in the 90s, when the Super NES had launched. Nintendo was competing with Sega to show off the graphical abilities of their consoles. In order to do this, Nintendo took a big risk by buying out a little known company called Rareware. Rareware developed a game called Donkey Kong Country, which used new 3D rendering technology to make an amazing looking game. Rareware went on to become one of Nintendo's most popular 2nd party developers.

Ratchet & Clank: A Long Review Part 3

Ratchet & Clank: A Long Review Part 2

Welcome to part 2 of my Ratchet & Clank review/playthrough. I don't know what exactly to put here, other than that we're going to Kerwan and Aridia. I'll just link to my inspiration for this new shift, this guy's analysis on Wario Land 4. It's very interesting. But anyway, let's get started.

One of the most important characters in the franchise. Not joking.

Ratchet & Clank: A Long Review Part 1

Sorry for the absence, I've been doing a lot of things (I ACTUALLY HAVEN'T I'M JUST LAZY), so I haven't had much time for the writing. However, I'm starting up something new with my reviews, I'm going to go in depth, with multi part reviews and going over every level. I'm going to start with the classic PS2 game, Ratchet and Clank. Except I'm doing the PS3 rerelease, so it's not really the original. I am planning on doing the entire series, or at least the ones I own, so this is a pretty big project. Anywho, let's get this madness started, shall we?

The combination of cat thing and robot has never been so fun.

Crash Tag Team Racing Review

In part two of Crash-A-Palooza we will be looking at the first ever Crash game made by Radical Entertainment. This game was a bold attempt to mix Platforming and Racing into a single game, did it work out? WELL I'M GONNA SHOW YA

Story-6/10- Crash, Coco, Crunch, Cortex, N. Gin, and Nina are in the middle of an intense car chase but wind up crashing in the middle of a racing based amusement park run by the German cyborg Von Clutch. It turns out that Von Clutch's amusement park is dying due to the Power Gems that run the place having been stolen. On top of that, Von Clutch's very own Black Power Gem, which powers his cyborg body, has gone missing. Von Clutch hires Crash and the gang to get them back and save his park.

Crash of the Titans Review

Poor Crash Bandicoot. Once a beloved Playstation icon, he slowly became just another platformer in a sea of them. This game tried to make Crash and his friends "hip" and "cool" to a modern audience. It's too bad that all the people who were interested in this game were Crash fans who wanted a classic Crash game. This game changed everything from the series and just made it... mediocre, making Crash fall further into obscurity.

Story-5/10- The story is ridiculously basic. Cortex, Crash's big headed arch-nemesis, kidnaps Crash's sister, Coco, freezes Crash's kinda-sorta brother, Crunch, in a block of ice. After the first world, Cortex gets replaced by his daught... er, niece, Nina. Crash then has to travel to different worlds to find Coco. That's basically it. Crash has to go to different worlds and try to find Coco. He goes to the lava level and beats Tiny Tiger, who tells him to go to N. Gin's base, N. Gin then tells Crash that Uka Uka might have Coco, so he goes there and then Uka Uka then tells Crash where Nina is and then he goes to her base and rescues Coco. It's basically Super Mario Brothers with bandicoots.

Bionicle Heroes Review

I've been with Bionicle from the beginning to the end. I've been into it since 2001 to 2010 and collected a vast amount of the sets released for it. 2006 is where I REALLY got into the series. 2006 was, in my opinion, the top of the Bionicle series. During that year they released a video game based on the 2006 storyline. I am here to talk about it.

Story-4/10- The story is very basic. These bad dudes named the Piraka have taken over an island and have a thing you want. You, being the almighty god chosen Toa, have beat them and get the thing back. There's also something about the Piraka turning the animals of the island into monsters, but that's just an excuse to bring in old bad guys from previous years.

However, the game has a myriad of continuity problems, such as dead characters being alive, good characters being evil, and thing that really shouldn't be on the island being there. However, this is null and void, as it makes up for these errors in the extra content, which I will get to in a minute.

Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions Review

Spider-Man is really the only Marvel character I care and know a lot about. He's just one of the more likable Marvel characters. He also has the second best rogues gallery , right next to Batman. But enough about me liking Spidey, it's reviewing time!

Story-7/10- The game starts with Amazing Spidey stopping Mysterio (AKA The best Spider-Man villain) from robbing a museum. In the process, Spidey breaks an ancient stone tablet that keeps the dimensions in balance or something. Madame Web, Spidey's mentor or something I guess, tells him he done screwed up and that he needs to get the pieces back. Madame Web also gains access to the alternate versions of Spidey from alternate dimensions to help gather the pieces.

Disney Universe Review

Disney is cool. There are a lot of good Disney films, like Nightmare Before Christmas, and The Muppets. Those are also the only Disney movies I own on Blu-Ray, so they're really the only ones I can name. I'm going to do some reviewing here I go.

Story-4/10- Disney Universe takes place in a weird virtual reality thing called the Disney Universe. Pretty creative, I know. But this place recreates famous Disney movies and sequences, and it's run by a blue cube named VIC, short for Virtual Information Cube. There's also robots that work there, but they're friendly. Oh wait no they aren't, cause this dude named HEX takes over the program and makes everything evil and red. That's basically it. You have to go through levels and beat up bad guys, and then when you beat the last level it ends. The ending is pretty amazing though

Toy Story 3: The Video Game Review

Movie licensed games are almost never good, with some of the most infamous games made being based off movies, such as E.T and Bebe's Kids. However, once in a blue moon, a good one comes out, having original concepts and creativity. Toy Story 3: The Video Game is one of those games. Heck, it was good enough to inspire that Disney Infinity game that's coming out.

Story-5/10- Being based on a pre-existing plot, the game tries to adapt it into an interactive perspective. However, this is where it falters, as it really doesn't follow the plot of the film all that well, sometimes for good, sometimes for bad. The plot follows Woody, Buzz, Jessie, Rex, Hamm, and Slinky Dog as they make they're way to SunnySide Daycare and meet Lotso Huggin Bear. Woody wants to go home because he has to go to college with his owner, but is sidetracked from that by having to save his friends from SunnySide because the place turns out to be evil.

Sonic and Allstars Racing Transformed Review

Whoa! I just remembered I have a blog that I haven't updated in a month! Guess I have to do a post then!

So, racing games have always been samey, with the closest thing to "Innovation" is that we have hang gliders coming out of our cars. Luckily, the fine people at Sega have come to do something about this endless barrage of Mario Karts and Gran Turismos. SaART is probably one of the best mascot racing games since the other Sega racing game.

Story-N/A- Like most racing games, SaART doesn't have a story at all. It's simply "Sega characters in cars and boats and planes, what more do you want?" So I guess we can move on quickly then.
